Meet Brooke
Breed: Golden Retriever
Barking from: Whangarei
What's up dog?
Brooke is very empathetic with people who are in distress, sick or just needing therapeutic support. She will happily sit with them and put her head on their knee and give emotional support. Brooke has been assisting with children who are having difficulty settling into their day at school when their parent drops them off. Brooke has groups of children that read to her. Brooke also visits a Resthome regularly to enhance emotional wellbeing and companionship for them. Brooke has been working with a child who was terrified of dogs, who now has the confidence to pat her and take her for a walk around the school. She provides them with a sense of safety, routine and emotional grounding. She is very good with calming children down that have anger issues and special needs.
2025 NZ People's Choice Award
We believe no dog should be left behind.
Every dog entered into the competition is automatically in the running for the 2025 People’s Choice Award — and the winner will be decided by you, the public.
This year, we’re giving the aroha back to our communities.
Each year, our campaign is supported by a number of incredible charities across Aotearoa that work tirelessly to improve the lives of dogs and people alike. In 2025, we’re shining a spotlight on these organisations and the vital mahi they do.
As part of the voting process, every voter will have the chance to donate to our amazing mental health or dog-focused charities.
It’s your vote, your voice, and your opportunity to make a difference.
